Inspired by the classic South African favourite, this Milk Tart Frappe recipe creates a creamy, refreshing drink for an icy treat.
It’s quick to make, deliciously nostalgic, and perfect for warm days when you want something sweet, cold, and comforting.
Ingredients
- Crushed ice
- 1 serving malt powder
- 1 scoop protein powder, vanilla or chocolate flavours
- 300ml milk of choice
- Whipped cream (to serve)
- Cinnamon and cacao powder, for dusting
Malt powder or malted milk powder is made from a mixture of malted barley, wheat flour, and evaporated whole milk powder. The powder is used to add its distinctive flavour to beverages and other foods, but it is also used in baking to help dough cook properly.
Instructions
- Add the milk and protein and malt powders to a blender. Blend first until combined.
- Add the ice cubes and blend again until smooth, fluffy, and frappe-like.
- Pour into glasses, top with whipped cream, and finish with a dusting of cinnamon or cacao powder.
- Serve immediately while icy and refreshing.
