Get Ready to RUMBLE
Virgin Active Launches RUMBLE classes
If you’ve ever wanted to step into the ring and train like a professional boxer, with none of the bumps and bruises, now’s your chance!
In March, Virgin Active is launching Rumble, a boxing-inspired group training session that offers a full-body workout and a chance to release some tension.
Rumble is a brand new form of fun, high energy boxing that works to improve overall fitness and stamina through a total-body, calorie burning workout. Rumble was developed by national kickboxing coach and undefeated former SA Professional Bantam & Featherweight Kickboxing Champ Josh Cassius Cloete. Rumble enables members to train like boxers without taking any contact. It consists of a 60-minute workout over nine rounds of skipping, jabbing and punching that will blast away 700 calories!
Over the past year, boxing has made its way back into the mainstream, inspiring the likes of Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima to step into the square ring.
Rumble will be available at 70 Virgin Active health clubs countrywide.

Vegan Pizza? Yes, please!
Col’Cacchio Adds Vegan Pizza to the Menu
With the rise in popularity of the vegan lifestyle, it’s expected that restaurants would alter their menus to accommodate vegans.
Col’Cacchio, the popular Italian-inspired franchise known for its gourmet thin-base wood-fired pizzas, hearty pasta and crispy fresh salads, continues to lead the way in food innovation, constantly introducing new menu items that cater for changing dietary requirements.
Co-founder Kinga Baranowska is behind the menu development at Col’cacchio, and says that their focus on fresh ingredients has made it easy to adapt to the changing needs of their customers.
“Because we use only the freshest ingredients and make everything in-house, we know exactly what goes into every pizza base, each sauce and every dressing for our salads. This control has made it relatively easy for us to develop low-carb, gluten-free and now vegan options while maintaining the flavourful taste combinations that Col’cacchio is so well-known for,” she said. The nut-based cheese used on the vegan pizza is also suitable for the lactose and casein intolerant customer.
I, for one, am excited to get my vegan pizza-fix on!
Train for Your Brain
Research Shows that Exercise Improves Brain Health
Exercising keeps us healthy, fit, and strong physically, there’s no doubt about that. But have you thought about what impact exercise has on your mental state and your brain itself?
Scientists and researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Centre have more evidence that exercise improves your brain health. In fact, their research suggests that the lower your fitness levels, the weaker the nerve fibres in your brain, which could lead to dementia.
So if you’re ever struggling to get motivated to get to the gym or get your workout in, remember: do it for your brain.
