Never one to shy away from a challenge, Letshego Zulu has confirmed her entry into the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE.
The two-day trail run event takes place at the Van Gaalen Cheese Farm in Hartbeespoort in the North West Province on 20 and 21 August 2022.

Back to the trails
Letshego is the quintessential #strongwoman – she is a mom, a qualified biokineticist, co-founder of PopUpGym, a reality TV star (she appeared on both Survivor SA Maldives and Fear Factor SA), an athlete, an adventurer, a motivational speaker, and a health & fitness columnist.
And she is looking forward to adding “trail runner” to her already impressive bio.
“The team at First Ascent challenged me to take part in the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE and I’m never one to shy away from a challenge,” laughs Letshego.
“I thoroughly enjoy the great outdoors. I often run on the road, mountain bike and hike, so naturally trail running fits into my adventurous outdoor lifestyle. I just haven’t done any trail running in
approximately 8 years, so the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE is kickstarting my trail running after my long sabbatical.”
Compete for impact
Letshego says she is looking forward to running on the very trails that she mountain bikes on at Van Gaalen.
“I’m sure it’s going to be spectacular. My goal is to cross the finish line comfortably every day.”
Letshego adds: “I’m a lover of life and am always looking to make an impact, so if by taking up this challenge (fairly unprepared) I can inspire the next person to persevere when challenged, then I would have achieved my goal. That’s what drives me.
The message that Letshego would like to share is that tough times never last, tomorrow always comes and over time, there will be a positive shift.
“Hang in there. Be patient and be kind to yourself.”
Stepping out of her comfort zone
“First Ascent partnered with Letshego as part of our ‘Influencer challenge’,” confirms Riaan Oosthuizen, General Manager of First Ascent.
“The goal of the campaign is to follow the journey of Letshego as she ‘gets out of her comfort zone’ by attempting a sporting activity that she is unfamiliar with. We chose Letshego because she is passionate and because of her drive to inspire fellow South Africans. She is an active person who thrives on challenging herself.”
To help Letshego ‘control her unknown’ she will run in a combination of First Ascent’s Pulse, Kinetic and X-Trail running range.
“We believe her journey will influence and inspire people to challenge themselves to step out of their comfort zones and be the best version of themselves.”
