Everyone wants to find the fountain of youth with its healing waters to give you back your vitality and youthfulness! Oh, wouldn’t it be nice if we could simply drink from a fountain to restore our glory days?

As we get older, we try so hard to retain our youth, our beauty, our health, and our wellness. But it isn’t easy getting older – the stress, the aches and pains, and the lines and wrinkles that come with it!

But it also doesn’t have to be as hard as you think. You can age gracefully with some grit and a few of my favourite tips!

#1. Regular movement

Moving your body is one of the best things you can do to increase energy and make you feel and look younger!

Including regular exercise activities in your daily routine fends off disease, manages your weight, improves your bone density and muscle strength, is good for your brain health, and makes you feel good!

So go for a power walk, take a spin class, do some HIIT cardio with a friend, get on your mat for a yoga session, and lift some weights!

However you choose to get your body moving, it gets endorphins flowing to increase those feel-good emotions and you will feel amazing! Just find something you love to do so that it won’t feel like a chore.

#2. Nourish your body

Nourishing your body and mind with the right foods will not only make you feel good and increase your energy, but it will increase your longevity.

Ultimately, you are what you eat! So eat nutrient-dense whole natural foods! If you fuel your body properly, you will feel young and ready to take on anything life throws your way!

I always start my day with a massive glass of water with lemon! It is so important to stay hydrated because it plays a massive role in energy production.

Eat sufficient protein and stick to complex carbs and healthy fats at each meal. Adding lots of colourful produce to your meals and snacks will deliver the nutrients and antioxidants your body needs to keep you looking younger, and they are also good for your skin!

My favourite meal is avocado toast with an egg and mixed berries. And eat smaller portions. Eating large meals drains your energy!

#3. Get sufficient sleep

When the sandman doesn’t do his job, we must ensure we play our part. Sleep is crucial to every aspect of our health, and feeling younger and having more energy is a huge perk when you sleep soundly!

If you are not getting the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep every night, create a bedtime routine that can help you fall asleep faster.

It doesn’t have to be long; read a book, take a warm bath, do some yoga, or do a skincare regimen. Whatever it is, it should be soothing and wind you down and get you ready to sleep.

Turn off all electronic devices at least one hour from bedtime because the blue light can affect your sleep, and make your room as dark as possible (sleep masks can help).

Getting deep, restful sleep will give you the energy you need and help you recover.

#4. Focus on self-care

Self-care has many different meanings – it isn’t just manicures and facials. It also entails genuinely caring for yourself in terms of mind, body, soul, and heart.

Taking care of yourself emotionally, spiritually, physically, and mentally is vital to keep you feeling young with a zest for life.

Making sure you keep your connections with your friends and family is so important as it maintains your happiness and positively impacts your health. So make time to call, go out for coffee, or send a note.

But don’t drop the massage and facials because they also make us feel good, and if you feel good, you look good!

#5. Take time out

It is so important sometimes to take a step back, inhale the good stuff, exhale the bad stuff, then get back to your day.

So meditate or practise breathing exercises regularly, or just close your eyes for a few minutes and take a few cleansing breaths.

Stress can do crazy things to your body and your health, so try not get overwhelmed! Breathing and meditation can help you manage stress, which will keep you looking and feeling young!

While the fountain of youth may be a myth, these tips are the closest we can come to taking a proverbial sip to keep you looking young and feeling vibrant.
