The third annual Baleia Wines Mountain Bike Challenge and second Trail Run will take place on Saturday, 8 September, from Baleia Wines & Olive Oil cellar and tasting room next to the N2 just outside Riversdale in the Western Cape. There are two MTB races to choose from; 20km or 63km.
The routes consist of flowing gravel road, single track and jeep track through the green wheat fields and yellow canola fields of the Riversdale district. The 20km route will mostly consist of single track and jeep track with an altitude gain of almost 320m with one water point. The 63km route will consist of 80% flowing gravel roads and 20% jeep and single track of a total altitude gain of more than 800m. The trail runs take place over a 6.5km and 16.5km trail, with runners venturing onto gravel roads, jeep tracks and single tracks. They can expect small hills, valleys, ravines and a little forest section.
