The attention of the global CrossFit community will turn to Regionals as the next step on the road to the CrossFit Games concludes on Sunday 3 June.
Having started on the 18 May, the fittest athletes and teams to emerge from the Open will compete against the best in their region to earn their place in the Reebok CrossFit Games.
South Africa forms part of the Meridian Regionals, with top athletes like Celestie Engelbrecht from CrossFit Tijger Valley, Mary Jamieson from CrossFit Northcliff, Nikita-Jenna van Rooyen from CrossFit Urban Shack, and Commonwealth Games weightlifter Johanni Taljaard competing against the best athletes from the Middle East and southern Europe.
Local teams flying the South African flag at the global showcase include CrossFit PBM Unite, the False Bay Sharks, CrossFit Valley Road and Cape CrossFit, the team in which fitness icon Nicole Warburg Mackenzie will be competing in.
