Fitness Magazine Launches The FitAffair

It has been a long-term goal of the Fitness Mag team to create an event where women can get together, work up a sweat and get fit and strong! Well it’s finally here! We’re happy to announce the launch of FitAffair with Fitness Magazine!

FitAffair is a series of fitness events planned throughout Gauteng (for now) in 2018. Our goal is to create an event that caters to everyone, which means the theme, our trainers, and the experience will differ every time.

No, you really can’t have too many shoes. Under Armour and Nike brings something new to the running market.

Under Armour Unveil Latest Innovation in Footwear Cushioning Technology called HOVR.

There are few things we love more than a good quality, sleek new pair of running shoes, and to say we’re excited about the launch of the Under Armour HOVR would be an understatement.

UA HOVR is a cushioning platform engineered to provide the ideal combination of cushioning and energy return – all without compromise. The HOVR midsole is made of a proprietary foam compound in partnership with leading innovators, Dow Chemical, providing a super-soft durometer with incredible cushioning and shock absorption with every single foot strike – both very important needs for runners. We’re eager to find out first hand just how much of a difference this new cushioning technology makes and how big of an impact it has on our running.

Go check it out: The HOVR platform will be available for purchase on February 1st 2018 from Under Armour Brand Houses in Sandton, Mall of Africa, V&A Waterfront and Menlyn.

Meet the Nike Epic React Flyknit

We’ve experienced our fair share of FOMO this week as Nike officially launched the Nike React Flyknit shoe in London with a variety of fitness and sports celebrities and influencers in attendance.

When Nike asked runners what they wanted out of their running shoes, they got very specific answers: they said they wanted better cushioning. They also said they wanted better energy return. And they needed their shoes to be lightweight, of course. Oh, and they had to last too. In a way, they wanted everything (not a fussy bunch are they?). Nike innovators, chemists, engineers and designers came together to deliver a solution in the form of a foam, called Nike React.

The Nike Epic react is 11% softer and 10% bouncier than their LunarEpic Low Flyknit 2. It is also 5% lighter than the LunarEpic Low Flyknit 2 – making it one of the lightest shoes you can buy.

The best innovations come from listening to athletes – and that’s exactly what Nike has done.

The Nike Epic React Flyknit will be available on February 22nd from www.nike.com and select retailers.

Veganism is a Mega-Trend in 2018, for real!

Trend forecasters have suggested that veganism is set to be a mega-trend in 2018. By now, you must have heard about the vegan lifestyle as thousands of people have committed to it, including celebrities and sports stars all over the world.

The vegan movement has been growing substantially, but it is only within the last two years that the vegan lifestyle has become so popular that restaurants are changing their menus and supermarkets are stocking their shelves with vegan-friendly products. And now, it is said to become an even bigger trend with Google reporting a 90% increase in searches for vegan food in 2017, leading into 2018.

Perhaps the popularity of the vegan lifestyle is not only due to becoming more aware of what we put in our bodies, but we are also more aware of the impact we have on the environment. Either way, we’re going to hear a lot more about veganism, plant-based diets and environmental awareness in 2018 (and we don’t mind).
