OFF THE BEAT ‘N TRACK, A SPECTACULAR FAMILY FESTIVAL OF MOUNTAIN BIKING AND MUSIC
Saturday, 21 April saw more than 3000 people streaming to the second annual Jacaranda FM & Tracker, Off the Beat ‘n Track mountain biking and music family fun day at The Big Red Barn in Irene.
The event, the biggest of its kind in Gauteng, offered something for any age and riding skill level, with courses ranging from 2km for the kids, and 5km, 15km and 35km races for the more serious riders.
Riders came out from Pretoria, Johannesburg and communities at large to enjoy this family fun day in the sun.
Throughout the day, all were entertained by performances by some of SA’s best live entertainment acts – Goodluck, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Dr. Victor, whilst they relaxed on the picnic lawns and enjoyed the array of gourmet food trucks. Children were entertained throughout the day with treasure hunts, acrobranching and live puppet shows.
Jacaranda FM’s GM, Kevin Fine, says: “This event offers something truly unique – a mix of sport and music in an outing that the whole family can enjoy. It’s a sight to behold to see thousands – young and old – flocking to these grounds and doing something they love, with the people they love. Along with our phenomenal partner, Tracker, we look forward to growing this event bigger every year!”
Michael Du Preez, Executive: Marketing and Product at Tracker, comments: “It’s awesome to be back at the 2nd Jacaranda FM & Tracker Off the Beat ’n Track. It is becoming the cycling event you want in your calendar if you’re looking to spend real quality time with the people you love. Seeing families together having a great time makes us really happy and we are looking forward to an even bigger and better event next year!”
