My BodyPower Experience with USN – Shelby Neves

Part of Shelby’s grand prize for winning the USN Face of Fitness cover model search competition included some international travel to represent the USN brand. Her first destination was the world’s biggest health and fitness festival, the BodyPower Expo.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] travelled to the United Kingdom with my fellow local USN-sponsored athlete, Jacques Fagan, where we spent 4 days and 3 nights. We were booked in to stay at the beautiful Village Hotel, which was just a few kilometres from the NEC venue in Birmingham where the expo was being held.

After landing and clearing customs, we took a cab from Heathrow Airport to Long Eaton and then on to Birmingham, which was a very scenic route. On the first day I was free to do as I pleased, so I took in as much as I could, including the Solihull Centre, which was great to see. We ended day 1 with a dinner with some of the other USN team. Day 2 dawned, which was the Friday when the doors to the BodyPower Expo opened. The USN team spent the whole day there, where our role as brand ambassadors was to engage with visitors, fans and other athletes at the stand. This included helping people who wanted to know more about supplements in general and USN products in particular, or simply engaging with those who wanted to meet the athletes. We also handed out product samples, caps, shirts, shakers and other promotional material, which everyone loved. There were also competitions held on the USN stage where we gave out products as prizes.

I was also able, and honoured, to meet some phenomenal athletes. I met so many amazing people from the USN team, including some of the international ambassadors, including Cristina Silvia, Tom Coleman and Justin Gonzales, who are all WBFF pros. Ryan Terry and William Bonac, who are IFBB pros, were also there, along with many other local USN athletes. I was also lucky enough to meet Kai Greene, Jay Cutler, and Jen Jewell, who is a fellow Fitness mag cover girl! They were all amazing – so humble and friendly.

Meeting all the USN pro athletes was definitely the highlight of my experience because I look up to them for what they’ve achieved, and it’s what I aspire to be one day. I didn’t think it would be possible to meet and interact with these world-renowned athletes the way I did, so that really was an honour. Overall this was definitely an experience unlike any I’ve ever had. It was absolutely incredible! I’m really appreciative of being given the opportunity to attend BodyPower and meet all the people I did. It’s certainly one of those once-in-a-lifetime adventures that will forever stand out as a highlight in my life. The environment was awesome, the vibe was exciting, and it was so great to be a part of it all.

Also, to see myself on the USN poster at BodyPower was something I will cherish forever. I can’t explain how much it meant to me. It truly is so rewarding. And this was all thanks to my decision to enter the Face of Fitness cover model search – it’s definitely the best decision I’ve ever made. It’s such a great opportunity. It has opened so many doors for me and has given me a great platform from which to build a career. I would therefore encourage anyone who wants to grow within the fitness and health industry to enter the competition. It’s a very honourable and prestigious title to have behind your name, and it’s definitely the biggest achievement of my life to date! When entering it’s so important to just be yourself, use the opportunity wisely, and to show your passion for it. It’s ultimately what paved the way for my BodyPower experience, which has hugely enriched my life.

A final word of thanks to the USN team, who very kindly arranged everything for us, including our meals, transport and accommodation. We were treated like royalty…
