It has also improved life for Jacqui and her family. “My husband and my kids have supported me throughout the process, and my teenagers now look up to me because of everything I’ve achieved. My eldest son even trains with me at the gym now. While I still have some loose skin and stretch marks, the fact that I’m able to get into a costume and enjoy life with my family has been priceless. I initially wanted to achieve something for myself, but in doing so the whole family has benefited from having a fit, energetic, happy, and healthy mom.”

Jacqui adds that she has learnt just how powerful the mind can be in this process.

“If you can convince your mind that you can do it, you’re halfway there. Then add in some perseverance and persistence and you’ll achieve your goals.”

Having motivated and inspired so many people on her journey, and having enjoyed the experience immensely, Jacqui registered to complete a personal training course. “I’ve also opened my own business called Fitness Mom, which aims to help other moms or women to get back into shape and lead healthy lives. Starting a new career in the health and fitness industry also ensures that I continue my own journey and maintain my results by making this a way of life.”

Jacqui Gomes transformationTo cap her transformation off, Jacqui also entered the transformation division at the Body Beautiful fitness show in October 2015. “This platform ensured I had set another big goal to achieve, one that I could say to myself  ‘I did it!’. Standing on a stage in my bikini took a tremendous amount of courage, just like taking that first step towards my transformation goal did, but it was so worth it.”

Favourite healthy dish: Fresh salmon, sweet potato and spinach.

Favourite training routine: Stairs, stairs and more stairs. They’re great for legs and bums and is excellent cardio for fat loss and fitness.

Must-use supplements: Multivitamin, omega fish oils and a protein shake.

Top diet tip: Prep your food in advance and stick to the plan.

Top transformation tip: Invest in a good personal trainer who will motivate and push you when you need it, and give the correct dietary advice.
