Friday 5k takes Cape by storm

Friday 5k takes Cape by storm.

The Friday 5k, initiated in Cape Town as a lead up to the 2015 FNB Cape Town 12km Onerun to help runners with their training while also building excitement ahead of the inaugural event, has continued to grow in popularity.

It’s a great way to start the weekend and meet like-minded individuals and there is a fun vibe. Due to popular demand, the Stellenbosch Friday 5k was introduced in February this year. The Friday 5k routes are free to all runners and are safe, with the Cape Town route incorporating elements of the city, including the Waterfront and Fan Walk, while the Stellenbosch route showcases the true beauty of the City of Oaks. Newcomers will be rewarded with an event t-shirt. There are lucky draw giveaways the first Friday of every month at the Cape Town Friday 5k and the last Friday of every month at the Stellenbosch Friday 5k. Event organisers also hope to grow participation numbers at the 2016 FNB Cape Town 12 Onerun, which takes place on Sunday, 15 May 2016.The 5k runs start at 18h30, with the Cape Town run leaving from in front of the Hard Pressed Café, Portside, Bree Street, and the Stellenbosch run starting outside the FNB branch in Andringa Street.
