What are your fitness goals?

I would like to motivate all kinds of people to view fitness and wellness as an attainable lifestyle choice. As a personal trainer in training and a group exercise instructor, I seek to inspire others to get fit. Too much of the time, fitness seems to be elitist and ‘only certain people can look a certain way’. I would like to change that and get many more South Africans to work out, not for the ‘summer body’ but for the tremendous health benefits. In order to live a well-balanced life with an efficient brain and body, one must consume the right foods and stimulate the brain and body with exercise and appropriate content.

What are your hobbies?

I choreograph dance routines, teach them and post them on Instagram (that’s a hobby right? Not a profession). I also Tinder a lot (It feels like a profession but it’s not… apparently.) I am a lifelong learner who loves keeping up with the latest wellness research, exploring progressive pieces of equipment (such as Omnia, TRX, Kinesis, bands) and creating exercises. I also love to read fiction, watch documentaries and series and be outside (hiking, running, soaking in the sun and dancing).

Do you have any sporting/fitness achievements you would like to share?

Earlier this year, I was selected to participate in a Virgin Active Group Exercise course in Sunninghill which was facilitated by HFPA. I recently completed the course and got certified this month.

I also hold a group exercise certificate from FitPro.

I am currently finishing off my Personal Training observation hours, after successfully completing the written and practical examinations.

I will be a certified Personal Trainer before the year is over.

I am currently a Wellness Consultant and Group Ex instructor at the newly-launched Go Health Club in Sandton. I also teach Dance Fitness at Cherry Dance in Randpark.

Why did you enter the USN Face of Fitness 2017?

I am a firm believer that fitness is for everyone, including me!

I may not be the skinniest or the tallest or the most defined but I truly care about inspiring others to embark on the journey of self-care. Aesthetics are nice but internal health is better.

This would be a great platform to help promote a very simple but overlooked message.
