Tell us more about yourself:
What are your fitness goals?
My main fitness goal is to feel as physically strong as my mind does. I would love to tone and gain muscle and build strength. I believe feeling healthy is the key to happiness. A happy mind and body is a happy soul.
What are your hobbies?
I love photography, writing, dancing and singing. I am a proud mom to a 6-year-old. My hobbies include meeting new people, networking and challenging myself in any task I undertake.
Do you have any sporting/fitness achievements you would like to share?
Owner and dance coach on a provincial and national level for 12 years (February 2005- December 2016)
Danced provincially and nationally for several years.
Coached dancers to attend World Championships on several occasions during the 12 years of coaching.
Recently started pilates and have featured in some blogs (See below).
Started the #flashplank campaign and I plan on promoting this more over the next few months. This is a fun initiative to create awareness of the importance of planking and taking time during your busy day to exercise anywhere, even at work. This has been a fun campaign I started and our local radio stations and several businesses have jumped on board. This is part of an idea for a campaign I would like to launch in 2018.
Why did you enter the USN Face of Fitness 2017?
I have had stage 4 endometriosis since the age of 14 and more recently in my adult years developed polycystic ovarian syndrome, fibromyalgia along with chronic migraines. I have recently found a love for pilates and enjoy the way I can combine pilates with dancing and fitness. I have met so many incredible ladies on this journey and would be honoured to be USN’s Face of Fitness. I want to show all the ladies out there that despite all odds you can overcome any obstacle you face in life. Being fit doesn’t limit you to only exercising in the gym and being the perfect fitness gym model. You can be fit in other disciplines such as dancing and pilates. Many women are beating chronic illnesses on a daily basis but their stories go unnoticed. I want to change that and promote awareness with a special focus on women who don’t fit the typical fitness profile.
