What are your fitness goals?
In 2013 I was at my peak and trained every day, running 5km every morning. I was doing CrossFit twice a week as well as Muay Thai. I was happy and weighed 62 kg but everything went down the hill the following year when my weight ballooned up to 80 kg. I also had high cholesterol and suffered from depression. At that stage in my life I was overeating and allowed stress and anxiety to take over and destroy my happiness. A friend encouraged me during this difficult time not to give up and to take control of my situation. And that was exactly what I did! My message to anyone who is struggling out there is that you have control over your mind and body and that you have the ability to change things around for the good!
What are your hobbies?
Give me a good day up a mountain, come rain or shine. If I am outside on that rocky hike I am happy. If I am not hiking you will find me in the gym. I also love running a scenic route when I get the opportunity to do so.
Do you have any sporting/fitness achievements you would like to share?
I have a diploma in sports nutrition and am currently busy with a personal trainer course through Trifocus Fitness Academy.
Why did you enter the USN Face of Fitness 2017?
I was inspired by one of the previous competitors, Geraldine Van Vuuren, who said that we should step out of our comfort zone to see what we can achieve.
