Hi Sasha
While carb and fat blockers can be effective, the key to a healthy, fit physique is eating a balanced, calorie controlled diet, combined with an active lifestyle. Denying your body of essential macronutrients can be detrimental to achieving your goals, so before you try a carb blocker rather try follow a diet disegned specific to your goals, body type and activity level. A qualified dietician is the best person to consult in this regard. Thermogenic fat burners, however, can greatly assist with your fat loss efforts, but be sure to cycle their use every six weeks by taking at least two weeks off to allow your system to reset itself. And be sure to drink sufficient water.

Hi Cornell
Thank you for your message and support of the magazine. You are correct, Fitness does cater to a different type of health and fitness enthusiast than the niche bodybuilding content of Muscle Evolution. As such, Fitness mag's male readership is, in fact, on the rise, as the content we publish is applicable to all health conscious individuals. Due to the market we just package this content for the dominant female readership in this country. We hope you will continue to enjoy the magazine and we look forward to more feedback from you in future.
Regards
The Fitness team

thanx for a great mag! I am a male 34 years old and into fitness and health. I found the men's fitness muscle evolution mag very boring and focussing on aspects such as steroids very uninteresting and steriotypical. So i am very happy to have a subscription to the ladies mag!! I find that every issue binds me to the articles, always addressing key points in nutrition, good tips on exercizes and good information on metabolic, lean muscle mass and weight management. Perhaps it is strange for a man to use female information, but it has been improving my health, fat % and optimal heart rate zone to a great extent! So im sticking with the girls!!! Thank you very much, and please, give us more Jamie Eason!! ps, Ed., i like the new look of the mag, keep it up!

You had this eating plan in the september magazine last year and I followed this! It is great! I only had 3 kg's to loose, but lost 5kg's and my body fat went from 22% to 19%. I managed to keep this weight loss since last year. Best programme ever! Thanks

I have recently accumulated quite abit of fat around the tummy area and thighs.I am tall and large built so am now set on working with my body shape and not against it. I am vegetarian and need to know how much protein I am needing per day and what (no fish/chicken or dairy) to add to a weight loss/fat loss and muscle building eating regime (daily meal plans) that involves a home exercise routine (no equipment). Pls help!

Very good article! I can't believe there are still people out there that believe fat can turn into muscle or visa versa. Just a week ago a friend of mine told me that some guy at his work has started to eat more since he is planning to convert all that fat into muscle when he eventually starts to exercise. Insane! :-)

Mariska,

lifting heavy weights is going to be of great benefit for you. Increasing muscle tissue and thus reducing fat will help your body to clear sugar from the bloodstream and thus reduce the insulin reaction.

On a side note: Bodybuilders usually do NOT lift heavy weights. They mostly lift weights which they can move 8 to 12 times in order to elicit hypertrophy (muscle growth). Lifting heavy means lifting a weight 1 to 5 times to increase strength and power (without bulking up etc.).

A regular weight lifting program decreases insulin resistance and thus reduces risk for becoming diabetic. If you are diabetic, such a program, in combination with good nutritional choices (high quality food, low carb, lots of omega 3 fish oil) can reduce the effects of Type I diabetis and entirely reverse the effects of Type II diabetis. Look for Robb Wolf's website and what he writes about nutrition and diabetis.

Good luck!
